The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly is organising the 3rd Digital Design & Advanced Manufacturing Summer School (DDAM), an intensive summer education programme in the fields of digital design and advanced manufacturing, to be held in Volos, Greece, from June 29 to July 3, 2026.

DDAM is a pilot collaborative educational programme between the Digital Engineering Hub (DEHub) of Rowan University (USA) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly, aiming to provide a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience for early-stage engineering students (Years 1–3).

The programme combines theoretical instruction with applied practice, covering the full workflow from digital design to final manufacturing. Participants will be introduced to modern concepts and tools in digital product design and advanced/hybrid manufacturing, including:

  • digital product design workflows,

  • simulation-based analysis using computational models,

  • computational design optimisation methodologies,

  • additive manufacturing (3D printing),

  • quality assessment through testing, sensing, and artificial intelligence.

The Summer School is delivered over one intensive week and is structured into three educational modules:

  • Module 1 (online, asynchronous – e-class): May 18 – June 5, 2026

  • Module 2 (in-person, Volos): June 29 – July 3, 2026

  • Module 3 (remote, optional): July 13 – August 28, 2026 (independent individual project)

The participation fee is €50 (early bird rate available until April 1, 2026).
Expressions of interest should be submitted via email by April 30, 2026.
