The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Thessaly, and specifically the Creative Technologies Learning Lab research group, participates in the research project ReachOut: Empowering Teachers to Become Trauma Sensitive Schools, which develops learning activities to address trauma from natural disasters in students. The project is particularly important for the Balkan region, which often faces incidents of earthquakes, floods, droughts, and other dangerous phenomena. The actions are aimed at primary and secondary education teachers, providing educational resources that can be applied in learning contexts in social sciences, arts, music, sports, sciences and languages.

As part of the research project, THMY participated in a consortium meeting in Alexandria, Romania, on September 25, 2025. The meeting involved 15 trainers and researchers from Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece. The researchers collaborated to produce innovative and engaging educational content and prepare pilot activities for students and teachers.

The ReachOut project is implemented from 2024 to 2026 and is funded by the Erasmus+ programme. In addition to the University of Thessaly, the Istanbul Region, regional directorates of education from Turkey and Romania, and non-governmental organisations from Bulgaria participate in the implementation.
