Octávio Sacramento:
I discuss the semantic equivalences that, through metaphor, are established between war and disease, considering the Covid-19 pandemic. In this case, like in many others, the war metaphors are expressed from the microphysical level of the virus to the social level of the epidemiology, the responses of states and institutions, and the practices and identities of different agents.

Vera Mendonça: LUTO(EU):
I present how an experience developed with students responds to the challenge of achieving meaningful learning about gender violence, capable to connect the theoretical and practical grounds of Social Work. Students come mostly from a peripheral, rural and ageing regions, where activism practices on citizenship rights are scarce and not very visible. There is little awareness among the students about gender inequalities, one of the fundamental topics of the curriculum. Pursuing the objective of achieving meaningful learning on the issue of gender violence, an activity around the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women has been introduced.
