The BioAnalytiX team from the University of Thessaly (UTH) has claimed second place in the Open Innovation Marathon (Hackathon) at the InnoHealth Forum 2024. This prestigious event, held at the JOIST Innovation Park in Larissa, awarded the team €1,000 from the Cooperative Bank of Thessaly and secured their direct entry into the second phase of the 15th Innovation & Technology Competition hosted by the National Bank's NBG Business Seeds program.

The BioAnalytiX team consists of Nikolas Papageorgiou, a 5th-year medical student at UTH, and Panagiotis Tsombanoglou, Christos Tsalidis, and Christos Tsoutsas, all final-year students in the Department of Digital Systems at UTH. They were guided by Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Production Technologies, Glykeria Karagounis, and Dr. Angeliki Tsameti from the Department of Economic Sciences at UTH.

Their journey began about a year ago, as part of the students' involvement in the Entrepreneurship and Business Plan Development courses within UTH’s Innovation-Technology Transfer Unit and Entrepreneurship Center 'One Planet Thessaly'.

BioAnalytiX aims to revolutionize medical diagnostics through its innovative artificial intelligence software, designed to analyze medical images from modern and traditional radiodiagnostic tools, including CT scans, MRIs, and X-rays. The software not only detects lesions but also provides detailed descriptions and generates quick automated reports, offering clinicians valuable support in forming their diagnoses.

This latest accolade marks the third consecutive award for BioAnalytiX in just three months. The team previously secured first place at the Ennovation competition in July 2024 and again at the YERAME national competition in September 2024.
