It is with great honor and pleasure that we announce that Professor Sotiris Zarogiannis, Professor of Physiology at the Department of Medicine, University of Thessaly, has been elected Fellow of the Academy of Physiology of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS), Class of 2025.

Founded in 1953, the IUPS represents over 60 national physiological societies, is a member of the International Science Council, and coordinates activities in the field of Physiology worldwide, promoting knowledge, education, and international collaboration.

The IUPS Academy of Physiology, established in 2021, is the premier global recognition body in the field of Physiology. Election to the rank of Fellow is awarded to scientists who have made original and long-standing contributions to physiology, demonstrated excellence in research, and shown international scientific leadership.

Fellows of the Academy play a vital role in shaping the future of the physiological sciences by contributing their expertise to strategic planning, fostering international partnerships, and mentoring the next generation of scientists. The Academy currently includes 137 members from 38 countries, among them 7 Nobel Laureates in Physiology or Medicine.
