The Trauma Care Lab, in collaboration with the Community Nursing Laboratory of the Department of Nursing at the University of Thessaly, co-organized the E.M.BR.A.C.E. (Evropos’ Motivation for Breast Cancer Awareness through Community Education) initiative with the community of Evropos and the Cancer Patients Association of Kilkis and Paionia "Saint Eugene of Trebizond." The event took place on Saturday, October 19, with the aim of raising awareness and educating people about breast cancer.
The initiative was held under the auspices of the Municipality of Paionia and the National Association of Nurses of Greece.
The scientific program included a series of interesting talks. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Maria Malliarou, Professor at the University of Thessaly and Director of the Laboratory of Trauma Care Education and Research, who discussed the importance of breast cancer prevention and early diagnosis.
Maria Theodoropoulou, Head of the Pharmacy Department at Trikala General Hospital and scientific associate of the Laboratory, spoke about the importance of the Pap test and vaccination in preventing cervical cancer.
Ioannis Kouroutzis, a scientific associate of the Laboratory and a postgraduate student in digital health transformation management at ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon, presented the MyHealth App, a digital tool supervised by the Ministry of Digital Governance.
Finally, the clinical breast self-examination workshop, using anatomical models, was a great success and was conducted by Dr. Anna Patsopoulou, a nursing educator in Karditsa and scientific associate of the Department of Nursing at the University of Thessaly.
