The Museum of Children's & Adolescent Literature (MCAL) was established by the Senate of the University of Thessaly following a proposal by Professor T. Tsilimeni from the Department of Early Childhood Education. It is housed on the 2nd floor at the corner of Glavani Street and 28th October Street in Volos. The museum was inaugurated in January 2022 by the Rector of the University of Thessaly, Professor Charalambos Billinis.

MCAL is the only museum of its kind in Greece, dedicated to the collection, preservation, promotion, and display of the works of Greek authors and illustrators of children's and adolescent literature. Its establishment was warmly embraced by creators, citizens, and educators at all levels, and its activities have been widely highlighted by both print and digital media.

Through its archival materials, the museum showcases the historical development of Greek children's and adolescent literature, introduces visitors to its creators and their works, and fosters research and engagement with literary books and literature.

Some of MCAL's Objectives:

  • Collection of relevant archival materials
  • Documentation and exhibition of archival materials, including magazines, books, personal items, manuscripts, photographs, creators' personal archives, correspondence, posters, first editions, CDs, videos, and more
  • Showcasing personal items of the creators
