The University of Thessaly is hosting an international conference on 20 and 21 March 2026 within the framework of the GreenComp School (Erasmus+) project, focusing on the role of the school as a “sustainability hub” and on strengthening the school community through contemporary approaches, tools and educational practices.

A core objective of the conference is to present the outcomes of the GreenComp School project, with emphasis on the educational resources developed to foster sustainability competences in line with the European GreenComp framework. The programme includes presentations of programme guides, participatory activities and tools for primary education, board games for pupils and parents, and learning activities based on Project-Based Learning (PBL). These resources can be used in classroom settings by teachers and families, as well as in undergraduate programmes for pre-service teachers.

The overarching aim of both the project and the conference is to support a sustainable culture in primary schools grounded in the GreenComp framework, ensuring that green competences become a lasting pillar of contemporary teaching and learning.

The conference is addressed to undergraduate and postgraduate students, education professionals, teachers and parents, and features presentations and workshops with contributions from project partners, universities and education stakeholders.
