With a shared commitment by UNICEF and the University of Thessaly to advocate for and promote children’s rights, as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the two entities have agreed to collaborate and mobilize their resources to establish a Child Rights Center at the University of Thessaly.
The primary mission of this Center is to conduct research, provide documentation, and disseminate knowledge on children’s rights across all relevant sectors, such as social policy, child protection, inclusive education, the smooth transition from childhood to adulthood, and more broadly, all social, biological, emotional, educational, cultural, and other aspects associated with the lives of all children.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two entities will take place during a special event attended by the UNICEF Representative in Greece, Dr. Ghassan Khalil, the Rector of the University of Thessaly, Professor Charalampos Billinis, members of the university administration, faculty members, and students. The event will be held in the Auditorium of the Urban Planning and Regional Development Building at the University of Thessaly, Pedeion Areos, on Monday, 02/12/2024, from 18:00 to 20:00.
Admission is free.
