Department of Nutrition and Dietetics

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the University of Thessaly was founded in 2019 and is based in Trikala, Greece. Our goal is through teaching and research to train students to excel in the field of nutrition and dietetics and the department to become the best among the academic departments in the field of nutrition and dietetics in Greece and one of the leaders in Europe and rest of the world. The mission of the department is through its professionals and graduates to optimize nutritional health, wellness and quality of life of the consumers. Students attend mandatory and elective courses for four years. During the third and fourth year they do their internships in different places in the public sector (i.e. hospitals, kindergarten schools, nursing homes) or private sector (i.e. food industries, catering establishments). Job possibilities for our graduates include: 1) Public health departments, state and community nutrition programs, 2) Hospitals and clinics, 3) Food service operations of schools and nursing homes, 4) Developing their own businesses or consulting services, 5) Educating athletes about nutrition and smart food choices, 6) Be involved in marketing, sales, communications, and technology
