Visit of the Central University of Finance and Economics at the University of Thessaly on the occasion of the establishment of the Confucius Institute in Volos

University of Thessaly (UTH) welcomed from the 16th to the 19th of November the delegation of the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), headed by the Assistant President of CUFE, Prof. Li Tao. The members of the CUFE delegation were Professor Li Guijun (Male), Director of Teaching Affair Office, Professor Jia Yuge (Female), Director of Academic Research Office, Professor Shi Yupeng (Male), School of Economics, and Associate Professor Li Hanjun (Male), China Academy of Public Finance and Public Policy.
The visit took place on the occasion of the establishment of the Confucius Institute at the University of Thessaly. In collaboration with Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters) and the Central University of Finance and Economics of Beijing, will offer at the facilities of the University, Chinese language courses, will conduct Chinese language learning certification exams, will implement exchange programs for students and faculty members and will organize intercultural cooperation activities. The Institute will participate in a network of over 500 Confucius Institutes worldwide and develop research and educational collaborations with a lot of them.
The Confucius Institute in the University of Thessaly aims to contribute to the development of cultural and economic relations between Greece and China through participation and organization of cultural events, such as exhibitions, performances and seminars, which will have a clear footprint in the Region of Thessaly and Central Greece.
The delegates from the Central University of Finance and Economics visited the University's premises in Trikala, Larissa and Volos, and they met with the Regional Governor of Thessaly, Mr. Costas Agorastos, with whom they had the opportunity to discuss new prospects for academic, cultural and business cooperation between Thessaly region and China. The delegation visited the Tsikriki mansion, where the Confucius Institute will be based, and discussed with the UTH faculty members, the prospects of further collaboration in joint research and joint educational programs.
The visits and contacts were particularly successful and noted the extraordinary momentum of today's development of Greek-Chinese relations and exchanges in the fields of education, culture, research and human mobility and know-how.
