Summary
Celebrations such as those of Olympia were the trademark of Greek civilization since ancient times, but flourished especially after the conquests of Alexander the Great. Old festivals were revived and new festivals were founded based on the Panhellenic Games, but they were hosted, at the same time, both locally and regionally. We believe that these festivals have created collaborative networks and contributed to the processes of "globalization" that we observe in the Hellenistic period, finally paving the way for the expansion of the Roman Empire and the spread of Christianity.
